I’ve always been terrified to look back at my journals. To see all of these deep feeling moments that were overwhelming at the time. But then I looked back at some journals today and was shocked to feel proud of the past version of me. I felt compassion towards that younger self and inspired by how far she’s come on this journey. Reflection can be hard, but it all depends on the lens you use. Start by noticing a few things you like about yourself before you reflect so that you can really love what you see and not criticize the human part of you that still has more room to grow.
Focus on the feeling, not how it all looks. That has been the secret to a lot of my healing. What feels better. When I get caught up in others expectations or dreams for me, I lose sight of my own.
