Slowly but surely learning what other people expected vs. who I actually am #wordtoyourmantra
It all started with a nudge from a mentor. “How long do you think you’ve been disconnected from your body?” That one question changed my life. That awareness allowed me to finally understand that I unconsciously started depending on overthinking and analysis from a very young age. It didn’t feel safe to be embodied, so I escaped the present because I was constantly getting injured or feeling unsafe. And the only way I could survive that when I was younger was abandoning being present with myself. This 60-hour training taught me how important it is to be trauma-informed. How crucial it is to listen to my body. How powerful the body is when it comes to healing. I’m so thankful to be learning more about mental health and somatics and I’m excited to see where it leads me. #wordtoyourmantra #embodiedsomatics
2022 was never supposed to be perfect. My intentions for 2022 were to have more fun and to be my whole self. And that’s what I did. Life still threw curve balls. But I am still here and I’m ready for what will come in 2023 💗
My New Year’s REVELATION for 2023 is to radically accept who I am more than I did in 2022 #newyear #newyearsresolutions
I’ve realized that dating used to bring me further away from myself: it would lead me into thoughts about what the other person liked. What the other person expected of me. Lately I’ve been focusing a lot on my desires in life and I’ve found connection in friendships that really allow me to be my full expression of self. Sometimes all we’re looking for is connection and how often do friendships get overlooked in those times of loneliness and seeking something outside of ourselves? It’s amazing when connection helps bring you back to yourself. #wordtoyourmantra #deepthoughts #friendshipsgoals #connection
Dance has alllllllways brought me back to the present. Released me from my worries. Now I am beginning to understand how the body works with the mind in these moments. It works to move the energy throughout your body instead of only staying in your head. I’ll forever be grateful for somatic moments that get me into the body and the present. #somatichealing #dancetherapy #presentmoment
