Boundaries feels like a concept that I’m still grasping at. I think that it’s easy to get swept away in what others think and feel if you’ve spent a long time doing that. Feelings often get more challenging when we resist them or ignore them. They compound over time and want our attention. By the time we are forced to face them, they can feel much more extreme than anticipated. How can we find support and allow ourselves to move through the physical sensations and thoughts that are associated? Slowly but surely learning what other people expected vs. who I actually am #wordtoyourmantra
It all started with a nudge from a mentor. “How long do you think you’ve been disconnected from your body?” That one question changed my life. That awareness allowed me to finally understand that I unconsciously started depending on overthinking and analysis from a very young age. It didn’t feel safe to be embodied, so I escaped the present because I was constantly getting injured or feeling unsafe. And the only way I could survive that when I was younger was abandoning being present with myself. This 60-hour training taught me how important it is to be trauma-informed. How crucial it is to listen to my body. How powerful the body is when it comes to healing. I’m so thankful to be learning more about mental health and somatics and I’m excited to see where it leads me. #wordtoyourmantra #embodiedsomatics
